About Us
Every child has a talent – so does
Kip McGrath!
Ours is in ‘knowing’ about learning, acknowledging everyone strengths, developing understanding in areas of need and challenging all students to realise their potential. We have talented teachers, quality programmes and study environments that promote positive and motivated learning - and the students enjoy success. My driving belief throughout my many years in education, in many different roles, has been that every child can; “ identify a talent, a skill, an intelligence, through which they can become whatever they want to be” (Michael Alexander – The Learning Revolution). |
|
For this to truly happen, students need knowledge of the fundamentals in curriculum areas, with literacy and numeracy as the essentials. They also need the opportunity to discover, to challenge themselves and to stretch their capability. So often this is a matter of confidence and positive interaction with a teacher – and the time to obtain success and draw on this in different learning situations.
This is where Kip McGrath can make the difference.
The Kip McGrath Orewa centre can provide this setting, with our highly trained and enthusiastic teachers and constructive learning environments. Students are safe to take risks and try out their understanding – to learn at an individual pace within programmes that are tailored to their needs.
What We Do
Our Programme:
- The wide range of student’s ages and academic abilities are catered for through the varied and proven programmes.
- Timetabling and different physical spaces at Orewa means that NCEA and older students have their own learning area.
- The teachers become known and trusted by the students. This means they can really understand each individual’s learning needs, assist with any academic difficulties and provide strategies wherever possible on overcoming these.
- The students learn that ‘wrong’ answers can mean ‘right’ learning – all done in ways that supports the student’s academic progress.
- Challenge is provided through the programme and specialised teaching to those who are seeking consolidation and extension.
